Are Things Heating Up in Minnesota?

by Joe Leyba on December 31, 2013

The headline is funny because it’s -5 degree right now in Minneapolis.  “Heated up” is also what the Vikings describe their talks with MLS.  Ives has that story covered here:  http://www.soccerbyives.net/2013/12/minnesota-vikings-mls-aspirations-heat-up-with-stadium-plan.html

SI’s Brian Straus went deeper in an article later that day about expansion in Minnesota and have dropped this bomb on soccer fans: “According to multiple sources, however, MLS officials have spent more time with United than the Vikings over the past several weeks.”

These developments could lead to a very interesting 2014 for Minnesota soccer fans.

I like our chances. It feels a little better today than yesterday. ;)

I am disappointed the Vikings stadium didn’t plan for soccer specifically. It was as if the opportunity to host international friendlies didn’t matter to the Wilfs. That said, I’m excited about a GRASS stadium in DOWNTOWN. That could be a huge success.
